Bonus
This category is a little tricky. Obviously it's about getting the most return for your time. Since all of the rooms have their own way of giving points, we break the numbers down as detailed as possible. In the end, it comes down to hands played per bonus dollar. If you don't have to contribute to the pot, we estimate how many fewer hands the average player needs to play in order to clear $1. Playing ring games are the fastest way to clear bonuses, so they take a major priority over tournament points. Some rooms give flat rate points per hand, such as Absolute who gives 1 point per raked hand regardless of the rake. This hurts high stakes players, helps low stakes players. Calculating bonuses isn't an exact science, but we come as close as we can.

Clearing a poker bonus really comes down to 2 things. First, the number of hands played. Second, in most cases the rake amount matters as well. So, player #1 plays a single, full ring game and logs about 60 hands per hour. Player #2 plays 3 tables at a time, all 6 handed. He plays roughly 100 hands per hour, per table. So, in one hour he plays roughly 300 hands, or 5 times as many raked hands as player #1. Thus, player #2 will earn points 5 times faster as well. We aren't suggesting that anyone play more tables than they're comfortable with, we're just pointing out how a player can maximize his bonus earning potential. Of course if multi-tabling causes a player to play poorly and lose money, he isn't doing himself any favors anyway.

Look for a bonus that suits your style. In general terms, players who play just a little, should be going after the smaller bonuses which tend to be easier to clear. If you log a lot of hours and crave the action of multi-tabling, go for the biggest bonus out there. Bonuses are a great way for experienced players to build a bankroll. They're also a great way to offset the losses that new players typically incur. Whatever you do, always sign up using a bonus code embedded link - don't give away free money!
