A
disgrace that Party hasn't expanded it's heads-up variety. Fee's are
the highest of all. Don't bother. |
Tied
with Party for highest fee's. Fewer players than Party Poker puts it
in the #10 spot. |
Decent
game variety. Tourney fee's are higher than most. Not enough heads-up
players. |
Variety
is fair, players are loose. Speed is decent. Would rank #5 if they had
multi-table matches. |
More
heads-up variety and than any other. Players are misers & table
action is mind-numbingly slow. |
Lot's
of players, fairly fast table action, high-stakes action is decent.
Lack of variety hurts ranking. |
Ton's
of players, lot's of heads-up game choices, lot's of high-stakes action.
Slow table action hurts ranking. |
Clearly
better than anything below. 2nd fastest table action, poor opponents,
plenty of players. |
In
a league of their own. Fast table action, graphics benefit heads-up.
It's a fish fry. |

| In our opinion, there is nothing more important in regards to online heads-up poker tournaments than the speed of the table action. Fast action allows good players to detect betting patterns, and creates a necessary rhythm. The rhythm of a fast action heads-up match forces players to think too fast, and causes mistakes. Experienced players / quick thinkers have an edge at fast tables. A pool of bad players is the next thing we look for. Variety matters, but most players want single table NL Hold'em games. Last, there must be enough players to find a game at any time of the day, and some high stakes as well. In regards to speed and poor players, BodogLife (formerly Bodog) is literally in it's own league. You wouldn't believe our win % if we told you. |
All players should get experience playing heads-up poker tournaments. There is more money to gain between 2nd place and 1st place than any other point in a tournament. Also, heads-up experience helps players develop a better game in all tournament types. For example, in a 10 player sit and go, many hands will have just 2- 3 players per flop. Players with a lot of heads-up experience will win a larger number of these pots than those who don't. Heads-up experience also helps to develop reading abilities, and those benefits can go without saying. Typically, good heads-up players will start all matches playing aggressively, making a lot of small bets. Most opponents will fold unmade hands post-flop, winning you a lot of small pots. This affords you the ability to take some losses here and there in bigger pots down the road. Plus, if you notice a player folding every time you make a small bet, you'll have a better idea of what he has when he finally calls. If your opponent is a maniac, sit back and play the opposite and set traps. Generally, do the opposite of your opponent, don't be afraid to bluff a lot, and don't risk all your chips without a hand. The best heads-up players will keep their opponents guessing and confused. Aggressive play will setup opponents to pay you off when you make a big hand. Overbet when you know you have the best hand and you know your opponent has a hand that will be hard to fold. |
