| For poker rooms to rank high in this category, they have to offer satellites for major live events such as WSOP, WPT, EPT and their own, larger guaranteed tournaments. Rooms that run satellites for their own poker series such as the Pokerstars WCOOP and Titan Poker's ECOOP rank higher as well. Freeroll satellites, 'steps' satellites, and anything else that helps players find their way into big tournaments all help a rooms ranking. We like to see a wide range of buy-ins, so players of all types can find what they like. Depending on the current promotions each room is running, you will find variances from these ranking, which should be considered general. The top 7 rooms are all quite good. |

Well, where do we start? Their are freeroll satellites with 12,000 players, where the top 5 players make it into the money. Then there are satellites with 20 players, where the top 5 make it in. In large field, freeroll, or points satellite tournaments it's important to try and get a large stack as early as possible. Early in these types of tournaments, most players are willing to move all-in with any 2 cards and hope they get lucky. This makes it difficult to skillfully build up a stack without risking all of your chips. We suggest that players wait until they have a big hand, or hit a big flop - then overbet. Hope that your opponents will make a move, giving you a chance to double up. Then, sit back and wait for another similar situation, risking your stack only when you feel very confident that you're holding the best hand. Don't bluff early in these tournaments, they work very rarely. In smaller field satellites, where there is a decent buy-in amount, play your normal tournament strategy. If a high percentage of players get to the next round, play a smart, solid game. If only a small number of players make it to the next round, you may need to play more loosely than usual, accumulating all of the chips you can. In these big field / small payout satellites, play a lot of small-ball against tighter players. Make lots of small bets to take down a lot of small pots. |
