Sit

| There's more to sit and go's than just traffic. Most of these rooms have plenty of sit and go traffic, so we're looking for much more than that. We want deepstacks, turbos, super turbos, short handed, beginners, multi-tables, and 'Steps' type tournaments. You name - we want it! We want a wide range of buy-ins, and tournament fees must be within industry standards. This category may be our toughest to rank. First, the top 3 could easily be interchanged depending on personal preference. Titan got the top spot for it's variety and range of buy-ins from $.12 - $1,050. Party has 'Steps', plus most everything else except deepstacks. Pokerstars sit and go tournaments are great too, but not as creative. Full Tilt Poker and Doyles Room are very good as well. |

Developing a proper sit and go tournament strategy depends on a number of factors. First, how many players are in the tournament? What is the blind structure? How many players get paid? Do I want to win, or get in the money? How are my opponents playing? All of these factors must come into play if you want to improve your sit and go tournament results. While there are too many details to discuss in this little box, there are some general rules to follow at any sit and go table. First, don't play marginal hands until you have a good feel for your table. Sit tight for the first several hands to figure out who the donkeys are, and who are the rocks. When you have a good idea of who's likely to have a hand and who isn't, play accordingly. Play looser against the loose players, tighter against the tight players. Look for hands like suited connectors to play against the loose players. If you hit a big hand, the loose players will be more likely to pay you off than tight players. If you're going to bluff at any point in a sit and go, try to do it against players who can fold - the tighter players. Try not to risk all of your chips unless you know you have the best hand. Overbet your big hands against the loose players, they'll often call - or better yet come over the top, trying to take you off of your hand. Punish the loose players, and make lots of small bets against the tight players. |
